Peter Hall

I was privileged over a year ago to be invited by County Councillor John Lethbridge to nominate Peter Hall for the Durham County Chair’s Medal.
I met Peter when he was a shy fourteen year old who joined the Youth Club at Tindale Crescent Methodist Church when I was the leader.
When he was older we transferred to Woodhouse Close Church where he qualified as a Youth Leader. He helped run weekly activities, residential weekends and holidays for young people. All this was a voluntary commitment.
Peter is very involved as Property Steward at the Church – a demanding commitment. He co-ordinates repairs, maintenance and health and safety checks.
Peter has also co-ordinated the Day Club for the Elderly for many years at Woodhouse Close Church. He had organised activities, outings to the seaside and theatre and has done much to address social isolation issues.
For forty years Peter also served on the Board of Trustees and acted as Treasurer at Auckland Youth and Community Centre next door to the Church. There he recently received a National Award for voluntary service. This was on behalf of the charity ‘Ambition’ formally the National Association of Boys Clubs UK.
Peter has been a willing volunteer, a very unassuming person who cares much for people of all ages. He has offered a tremendous commitment to the community.
